Charming Posada Hotel in an 18th Century Building in Cuenca, Castilla-la Mancha, Spain

The Posada de San José, which was built during the XVlll century, is situated in heart of the historic quarter of Cuenca. The building retains its past monastic characteristics for it was the San José Choir School which echoed to the voices of boys rehearsing masses to be sung in the nearby cathedral.

Antonio and Jennifer Cortinas re-opened the Posada in 1983, since when, with sensitivity, they are restoring and refurbishing it, complementing its past architectural character with contemporary standards of hotel comfort so that guests are offered friendly hospitality and local culture throughout their stay.
Visitors will be charmed by this unique Posada and appreciate the harmony of decoration and its superb situation overlooking the Huecar River Gorge.

Breathtaking views can be enjoyed when taking deliciously home-cooked evening meals or continental-style buffet breakfasts. The remarkable position of the hotel offers a dramatic panorama of sunlight, shadows and breathtaking scenery.

All is tranquility and it is little wonder that this intriguing, old quarter of Cuenca was designated a World Heritage Site in 1996; the Posada de San José so perfectly belongs within it!
